Hunter Vault

Hunter Vault is a personal finance app that turns budgeting into an RPG, inspired by Solo Leveling. Users log their real expenses, income, debts and savings, and the app turns those habits into XP, ranks, quests and achievements, so showing up every day feels like progress. It launched on the App Store and Google Play in April 2026 and has grown to 2,500+ users.

Since launch it has grown from a local expense-and-budget tracker into a full personal finance app: budgets and bills, debts, savings goals, receivables, five report types, a weekly leaderboard, cloud sync, and two AI features. Huntee is an in-app money assistant, and Smart Import pulls transactions out of bank statements.

Most budgeting apps are abandoned within weeks. Logging every purchase feels like a chore, and nothing rewards consistency. Hunter Vault had to make daily tracking feel rewarding without turning into a game that ignores real money.

It also had to stay trustworthy. The core app works offline with no account and keeps financial data on the device, so every online feature added later (sync, AI, the leaderboard) had to be optional and sit behind that core rather than replace it. As the app grew, the harder problem became keeping more than a dozen features that all touch the same financial data consistent with each other.

The progression loop maps real behavior to game mechanics. Every logged expense and saved amount earns XP, daily and weekly quests reward consistency, streak multipliers reward showing up, and ranks from E to S make long-term growth visible.

Under that, the app is offline-first. Dexie over IndexedDB is the source of truth, screens read through reactive queries, and balances are derived from records rather than stored. The schema has been migrated in place on users' devices up to version 38 without data loss.

Online features sit behind the local core. Optional cloud sync gives every record a stable UUID, tombstones deletes and resolves conflicts last-write-wins. Huntee and Smart Import run on Supabase Edge Functions that call the Gemini API. RevenueCat handles the free tier, the one-time Elite unlock and the Hunter Pass subscription that funds AI credits. One React codebase ships to iOS and Android through Capacitor, in 11 languages.

Hunter Vault shows that a personal finance app can be engaging and trustworthy at the same time. Gamification keeps people logging, the offline-first core keeps their data on their device, and the optional online layer of sync, AI and leaderboards adds value without becoming a requirement. Six months after launch it has 2,500+ users and has grown from a simple tracker into a full personal finance app, on an architecture built to keep changing.
